Strawberry freeze and fried fruits will give intense flavor in macaroons. Also, it will make macaroons more colorful in taste. Dried fruits usually shrink in size. Yet, strawberries do not really shrink in size when dried. This is a popular dish in South Korea.

Commonly, the dried strawberry goes with chocolate sauce. The sour flavor of strawberry blends wonderfully with both white and dark chocolate. Strawberry macaron recipe will help us to create such tasty snack.

If we are bored with strawberry macaroons with ordinary cream, we have to give it a try. It is better if we can also create macaroons with a unique shape.

The round shape macaroon is already cute. But we can make it heart-shaped so it looks more interesting. We can use a small piping bag for making the heart shapes.

For beginners, round shape is more recommended. In order to make the strawberry fits the macaroon, we need to grill the dried strawberry. We can use a grinder or even a rolling pin.

Strawberry macaron recipe

Ingredients:

  • Freeze-dried sliced strawberries: ½ cup
  • Almond Flour: 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar: ¾ cup
  • Eggs: choose 2 big eggs whites, approximately 70 gram
  • Cream of tartar: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sugar: ¼ cup (50 gram)
  • Pure vanilla extract: ½ teaspoon
  • Food coloring gel: red or pink

Filling ingredients:

  • Unsalted butter; 2 tablespoons
  • Powdered sugar: ¾ cup
  • Heavy whipped cream: 2 teaspoons
  • Strawberry jam: 1 tablespoon. We also need an additional 2-3 tablespoon of jam for the filling.
  • Pure vanilla extract: ½ teaspoon
  • Salt: 1.8 teaspoon

How to Start the Recipe

  1. First of all, we have to get prepared with the dried strawberry. The freeze-dried strawberries need to be crushed with rolling pin or grinder.
  2. Next, sift almond powder, strawberry powder, and powdered sugar together.
  3. Beat the eggs whites with medium speed. Stop when it looks foamy. Next, add cream of tartar and slowly add one tablespoon of sugar together. Now, we can increase the speed until it reaches the highest form. After that, we need to add vanilla extract. When it is ready, add the red or pink food coloring gel. Add one-minute extra beating in the medium speed.
  4. Next, we need to sift the almond flour mixture with the whipped egg. The batter will look too thick at first. Yet, it will be perfect as we fold while mixing it.
  5. After that, we can put the batter in a pastry piping bag.
  6. If we want to make heart shapes, we can use heart template on the parchment paper. If we want to make simple round shapes, we do not have to use any template.
  7. We need to let the batter or macaroon rest and dried for 15-30 minutes.
  8. Bake the macaroons for 20 minutes in the oven over 150 degrees Celsius.
  9. While the macaroons are drying, we can add the strawberry buttercream.
